Places To Visit In Rajasthan

The history of Rajasthan is the history of dynasties and rulers. You are reminded of its historic past as you explore its prime tourist sites, which include the magnificent forts and palaces that dot its skyline. Stories of their bravery, passion and untamed nature are still told over campfires in towns that appear to be as old as their residents. From one of the jharokhas, an era seemingly vanishes and, like on a sightseeing tour, your imagination conjures up tales of activity from the parapets. Everything appears to have been touched by grandeur, especially the greatest places to visit in Rajasthan.

Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur

One of the biggest forts in India and one of the greatest for a viewing tour is Mehrangarh Fort, which was constructed in 1459 by Rao Jodha. The forefathers of the Maharaja of Jodhpur still reside in this fascinating old fort. Situated on a 122-meter-tall hill, 400 feet above the city, the fort is encircled by imposing, thick walls and features seven entrance gates.

Travellers mostly search for Lohapool (Iron Gate) among the seven gates because it bears multiple small, sorrowful handprints known as sati marks, these are the imprints left by Maharaja Man Singh's widows, who hurled themselves onto his funeral pyre in 1843.

Amber Fort, Jaipur

The Amber Fort, sometimes referred to as the Amer Fort, is one of Rajasthan's most well-known forts and draws visitors from all over the world. It is situated 11 kilometers from Jaipur, the state capital. It is recognized for its creative representation of several aspects of Hindu heritage.

The Amer palace complex is made up of the Sheesh Mahal, also called Jai Mandir, the Diwan-e-Aam (the Hall for Public Audience), the Diwan-e-Khaas (the Hall for Private Audience), and the Sukh Niwas (Hall used for artificial cooling). The complex is constructed out of marble and red sandstone. The Rajput Maharajas and their families used to live here as an imperial mansion, making it one of the top tourist destinations in Rajasthan.

Kumbhalgarh Fort, Udaipur

Approximately 82 kilometres to the north of Udaipur, also known as the "City of Lakes," is the royal Kumbhalgarh Fort. In the Mewar region, it is the second most significant fort in Rajasthan, after Chittorgarh. It was built in the fifteenth century by Rana Kumbha and is the birthplace of Maharana Partap, the famous king of Mewar. Now that it's open to visitors, the fort is magnificently illuminated for a short while every night.

Junagarh Fort, Bikaner

Renowned for its architectural majesty and historic appeal, the Junagarh Fort is a remarkable old fort located near Bikaner, Rajasthan. Originally called Chintamani, the fort was renamed Junagarh, or Old Fort, in the early 20th century when the reigning family moved to Lalgarh Palace, which was outside the fort's boundaries.

Despite numerous previous attacks, the adversaries have never managed to take control of this fort. It's one of Incredible Rajasthan's most remarkable monuments, with massive towers and defense fortifications.

Chittorgarh Fort, Chittorgarh

The personification of the Rajputs' noble spirit, romanticism and pride is Chittorgarh Fort. It is alive with the legacy of bravery and sacrifice, which is still evident inside the ominous Chittorgarh fort. This historic fort is regarded as one of the most magnificent in the nation and is one of Rajasthan's most visited tourist destinations.

Situated atop a roughly 180-meter-tall mound and encompassing an expansive expanse of over 700 acres, the fort was originally constructed by the Mauryans during the 7th century. But later, as Mewar's rulers came to power, they constructed more buildings to it.
