Red Fort
The Red Fort, also known as Lal Quila, is an iconic tourist attraction in Delhi, India. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638, the fort is made of red sandstone, giving it a striking and impressive appearance. The Red Fort is located at the heart of Delhi and holds immense historical significance. It is from here that the Prime Minister of India delivers his speech on Independence Day and hoists the flag every year on August 15th. The Red Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, further adding to its allure and popularity among tourists.

Jama Masjid
The Jama Masjid is a magnificent mosque located in the heart of Delhi, India. Its construction was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1656 AD and it remains the largest mosque in India. The mosque is an architectural masterpiece, with its domes built in white marble and a prayer hall that boasts 260 pillars. The mosque can accommodate about 25,000 people, making it a popular place of worship for the Muslim community. It is also a significant tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world. The Masjid-I-Jahan-Numa is a symbol of Mughal architecture and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Old Delhi has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century when it was founded by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The area was initially called Shahjahanabad and served as the Mughal capital of India.

Today, Old Delhi is a bustling hub of activity, with narrow lanes, bustling markets, and historical monuments. After visiting the Jama Masjid, you can also take a bicycle rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. The ride takes you through the bustling market of Chandni Chowk, which is famous for its street food, jewellery and textiles.

Next is the Khari Baori spice market. This is one of the largest spice markets in Asia and is a must-visit for anyone interested in cooking or food.

India Gate
India Gate is a legendary war memorial located in Delhi, India. It was designed by Edward Lutyens to honour the soldiers who died in the Afghan Wars and World War I. The names of the martyr soldiers are inscribed on the walls of India Gate, reminding us of their heroic sacrifices. It serves as a reminder of the bravery of the Indian soldiers who fought for their country's freedom and the sacrifices they made to ensure the safety and security of their fellow citizens. India Gate has become an iconic landmark in India and an important symbol of the country's rich history and culture.

Humayun’s Tomb
Humayun's Tomb is a magnificent mausoleum, commissioned by Mughal emperor Humayun's first Begum, Bega Begum, also known as Haji Begum, the construction of the tomb began in 1562 and was completed by 1570. The design was created by the Persian artist Mirak Mirza Ghiyas. It is a stunning example of Persian architecture and in 1993, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tomb is surrounded by a beautiful garden and is located near the shrine of Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya Chisti. Humayun's Tomb is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and architecture.

Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple, also known as the Bahai Temple, is an architectural marvel in New Delhi. The temple's unique design, inspired by the lotus flower, makes it a popular tourist attraction and a place of worship for people of all religions. The temple's tranquil atmosphere offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether you want to meditate, pray, or just appreciate the impressive architecture, the Lotus Temple is a must-visit destination in Delhi.

Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar, a towering monument, holds a significant place in India's history and architecture. The construction of this magnificent monument was started by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1199 AD and it was completed by his son-in-law and successor, Iltutmish. With a height of 73 metres, this mediaeval masterpiece is adorned with intricate carvings made of red sandstones and features beautiful verses from the sacred Quran. It is not only a popular tourist destination for Indians but also attracts foreigners who come to marvel at its beauty and learn about India's rich cultural heritage.
